In 2024, Canada faced both opportunities and obstacles in its ongoing pursuit of a more efficient and accessible healthcare system, turning to digital technology to help overcome several challenges, such as workforce shortages and increased patient demand. Simultaneously, the government introduced several initiatives aimed at strengthening the healthcare system and reshaping care delivery. Below, we highlight some of the year’s groundbreaking projects and notable customer achievements, demonstrating our shared commitment to transforming healthcare.

December 11, 2024 — 

December 10th marked an exciting milestone for the state of interoperability in Canada as two of its largest EHR vendors took significant strides toward provincial-wide data exchange. All MEDITECH customers in Ontario connected to MEDITECH’s Traverse Exchange Canada network now have the ability to share patient information with any site in the province connected to the Oracle Ontario eHub, thanks to a collaborative effort between the two vendors. This seamless data exchange saves time, reduces unnecessary testing, and enhances care coordination, leading to better healthcare outcomes.

November 11, 2024 — 

Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is the first healthcare organization in Canada to implement MEDITECH Expanse Genomics solution.

November 4, 2024 — 

Four acute hospitals comprising the CARE4 partnership in Central Ontario were recently awarded the prestigious EMRAM Stage 6 validation from the HIMSS, recognizing their use of digital technology to advance data exchange and interoperability for improved patient engagement and clinical efficiencies. 

September 20, 2024 — 

Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) recently announced they are the first hospital in Canada to deploy MEDITECH’s Expanse Genomics solution for real-time drug-gene interaction analysis.

Humber River Health and MEDITECH executives discuss new Expanse Innovation Partnership in Canadian Healthcare Technnology.

May 21, 2024 — 

MEDITECH took another step toward its long-term vision of breaking down interoperability barriers across Canada by connecting its first pilot organization, CHAMP (Champlain Association of MEDITECH Partners), to Oracle’s e-Hub. 

April 15, 2024 — 

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital was awarded two Level 6 validations from HIMSS, recognizing its use of digital technology to enhance the outcomes of the families it serves. 

March 25, 2024 — 

The North West – comprised of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and dozens of other healthcare providers across the region – is planning to join ONE Healthcare Information Technology Services (ONE HITS), which operates one of MEDITECH’s largest Expanse instances.

March 6, 2024 — 

The first hospitals and long-term care sites are now live on MEDITECH’s Traverse Exchange Canada, a first-of-its-kind interoperability network.
