MEDITECH Celebrates Digital Health Week in Canada
MEDITECH joins Canada in celebrating Digital Health Week (Nov 13 - 19), as we all look at the ways innovative technologies can maximize efficiencies and make patient care more accessible.
Humber River Hospital (Toronto, ON) is one Canadian healthcare organization that continues to advance patient care through state-of-the-art technology. On the current leg of its digital health journey, Humber River is putting the final touches on its hospital-wide command center, which is slated to open later this month.
This command center was developed to help monitor patient flow and patient care logistics throughout the hospital and, in a later phase, will include monitoring patients at home. It will be the first of its kind in Canada, marking yet another milestone for the facility after making headlines as North America's first fully digital hospital, as well as the first to implement MEDITECH's Oncology Management solution.
“We asked, what is a digital hospital? We say it’s one that has electronic information where people are mobile and connected; their patients are empowered and the systems are automated,” said Humber River CIO Peter Bak, in a recent Healthcare Informatics article.
“We know that many organizations are under a lot of pressure to serve a growing population and an increasingly elderly population, and you have to do it well and with less dollars available; it’s a fundamental challenge in healthcare around the world. What we’re doing at Humber River is breaking new ground and really addressing that problem.”
