MEDITECH is pleased to congratulate Dr. Tasleem Nimjee, Humber River Hospital (North York, ON) physician lead for the organization’s COVID-19 emergency response, for being named one of the most influential Torontonians of 2020 by Toronto Life.  Dr. Nimjee and her team were recognized by the publication’s annual list for their COVID-19 efforts including establishing PPE policies, procuring supplies, and holding intubation simulations.

With the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the city, Humber created a second ICU to treat overflow patients. While the staff was physically separated, Nimjee led an effort for coworkers to remain connected by sharing videos with stories and personal updates.

“Humber River Hospital has been instrumental in treating Toronto’s COVID-19 patients with the same commitment to innovation and superior care that they are known for,” said MEDITECH Executive Vice President Helen Waters. “Congratulations to Dr. Nimjee for this recognition and her leadership in the hospital’s pandemic response.”

Each year, Toronto Life issues a list of the 50 most influential Torontonians. Front line workers, including Dr. Nimjee, topped this year’s rankings. The group was selected for their continued personal sacrifices and efforts to help others during the pandemic.

Recognized as the first fully digital hospital in North America, Humber is amajor acute care hospital that serves more than 850,000 people in the greater Toronto area and has maintained a strong partnership with MEDITECH spanning several decades. In 2019, the organization went live with Expanse, MEDITECH’s state-of-the-art EHR.
