MEDITECH South Africa recently held a Tech Summit for its development and operations teams to bring a greater awareness of what newer software development processes and tools look like. Collaborating during the summit as DevOps (aka IT), staff looked at new ways to streamline the software development lifecycle by focusing on automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
There are eight main phases in the DevOps cycle: Plan, Code, Build, Test, Release, Deploy, Operate and Monitor. Four presenters each were asked to tackle two of the eight different phases.
“We wanted people to start thinking about how they could possibly integrate newer automated tools and processes into their daily work, to not only make their lives easier but to also decrease the turnaround time for the work we do, to get it to our clients faster,” said Tshepo Molebiemang, Senior Programmer.
A big thank you to the presenters Lodewikus, Tshepo, Takalani and Nwabisa — it's not easy standing in front of a crowd and presenting — along with Annette, for her great job as emcee throughout the event.
We would like to once again thank all those who attended, and hope they enjoyed learning about our latest processes and tools to help streamline workflows. We look forward to seeing you at the next one!
