MEDITECH customers can now view presentations and recordings from the company’s recent Clinical Informatics Symposium - a virtual event that brought over 1,000 Expanse users together for two days of EHR optimization education. Over 20 featured track sessions focused on such themes as new system enhancements, tried-and-true efficiency strategies, and advancements in Canadian initiatives.
“This year’s Clinical Informatics Symposium was a great success,” said MEDITECH Chief Marketing and Nurse Executive Cathy Turner, BSN, MBA, RN-BC. “We had an unprecedented number of participants, which shows how important the partnership between MEDITECH and our customers continues to be, especially during these times of intense workloads and staff shortages.”
MEDITECH presenters shine a light on the road ahead
MEDITECH presenters included Associate Vice President Michelle Brousseau and Director of Product Management Rebecca Lancaster, CPM, who outlined MEDITECH’s development and strategy roadmap, covering such topics as genomics, surveillance, mobility, and the increased role of the pharmacist. In addition, they shared initiatives underway to further improve the user experience with enhancements in personalized navigation, ordering, documentation, and charting.
Other topics covered by MEDITECH speakers included strategies for improving ambulatory office workflows, enhancements to multi-contributor functionality in physician documentation, and the regulatory landscape for 2023 and beyond.
Customers share their technology successes
Dr. Louis Harris, CMIO at Citizens Memorial Healthcare, was one of several customers who shared his organization’s success with Expanse. He showed the benefits of workload management tools, health maintenance tracking, and Expanse Cam, MEDITECH's cloud-based photo app.
Attendees also heard from Dr. Priscilla Frase, CMIO and Hospitalist at Ozarks Healthcare, who showed several areas within Expanse where system personalization can ease burdens on physicians. Kristen Fish, BA, RN and Soyang Ha, PharmD of St. Luke’s Hospital discussed the benefits of smart pump infusion integration.
Expanding care through interoperability
Data exchange continues to be a critical concern for healthcare organizations world-wide. Attendees of our Canadian Track learned more about Traverse Exchange Canada - the cloud-based interoperability network that allows free-flowing information exchange among participating organizations.
In addition, Dr. Douglas Cochen from Queensway Carleton Hospital and Dr. Peter Rumney from Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital shared their insights on patient summary exchange, and how it helps to lay the groundwork for Traverse Exchange Canada.
