Humber River Health President and CEO Barb Collins and CIO Peter Bak, along with MEDITECH COO and EVP Helen Waters were recently interviewed by Canadian Healthcare Technology about the role of collaboration in healthcare and the recent introduction of the Expanse Innovation Partnership. The new program partners MEDITECH with some of its largest and most progressive customers to develop new and innovative technology that will enhance the Expanse platform. Humber River Health was the first organization that joined the group.
“We’re bringing our capabilities in technology to the program, as well as our resources as a living laboratory to improve care for patients,” said Collins. She highlighted the work of the Expanse Innovation Partnership will benefit Humber patients and MEDITECH customers worldwide. “We have a duty to help improve patient care for everyone.”
The Expanse Innovation Partnership program will complement MEDITECH’s ongoing product development efforts to accelerate the rate at which teams can design, test, and deliver new innovations. Once successfully implemented and tested with the partner site, many of the advancements developed as part of the Expanse Innovation Partnership will be extended to all of MEDITECH’s customers.
“We’re providing a direct link to our development and product teams,” Waters said. “Together with Humber River Health, we are hoping to achieve an even higher level of EHR development.”
Bak noted that there is increasing pressure in the healthcare industry to use technology to improve systems and the delivery of care. “The pace is a lot faster than, say, 10 years ago. By collaborating we can move a lot faster.”
The Expanse Innovation Partnership program is currently expanding to include additional MEDITECH customers, most recently including Fraser Health Authority. Read the full article in Canadian Healthcare Technology.
