Physicians at Frederick Health (Frederick, MD) faced challenges accessing and using genetic data in their practice of medicine. Both ordering and resulting genetic tests were cumbersome and time-consuming. To improve processes, Frederick Health implemented Expanse Genomics, an EHR-based solution that allows genetic test ordering and discrete genetic test result storage directly within the Expanse EHR.

Mile Bluff Medical Center Reduces Provider Burnout Using MEDITECH’s AI Solution With Google Health
In 2022, Mile Bluff Medical Center (Mauston, WI) became an early adopter of Expanse search and summarization, powered by Google Health, an innovative AI solution designed to reduce clinicians’ burden and improve care. Search and summarization scours multiple sources for patient information – from legacy data, faxes, and scanned documents to handwritten notes, shorthand, and acronyms.
“The response [to search and summarization] was overwhelmingly positive,” said Randall Brandt, PA-C, a physician assistant in primary care at Mile Bluff Medical Center. “Onboarding went smoothly with the provisioning of users and training. After witnessing search and summarization’s impact on their colleagues’ workflow, we received multiple requests for access, ending up with 176 users and expanding to 23 departments.”
