MEDITECH Executive Vice President & COO Helen Waters will present on the importance of gender diversity in healthcare IT at November’s CHIME22 Fall Forum. The panel session, “Women in Healthcare IT: Cultivating Women to Lean into Healthcare IT Leadership,” will be held Tuesday, November 8th from 3:30-4:15 p.m. CST as part of CHIME’s Digital Leadership Track.

Helen will be joined by other female leaders from across the healthcare industry as they reflect on what organizations can do to level the playing field and ensure that women are being nurtured to take the next step in healthcare IT leadership.

A strong advocate for gender equality, Helen takes great pride in MEDITECH’s female executive leadership, which includes seven of the ten executive officers — including the president and CEO, EVP and COO, CFO, chief governance officer and general counsel, and three vice presidents.

"I think this was a company, when I first came here, that very much judged the capabilities of a person based on performance," she said in a recent interview with Becker’s Hospital Review. "It wasn't difficult to be noticed if you were good at what you did."

The panel will discuss persistent obstacles often hampering female advancement, especially to senior leadership positions, and the steps organizations should take to open new opportunities.

The CHIME22 Fall Forum will run from November 7-10 in San Antonio, Texas. Presenters will also include Jackie Rice, BSN, RN, Vice President & CIO at Frederick Health. Jackie will present her session, “Genomics Is Here: How to Build a Precision Medicine Program,” on Wednesday, November 9th from 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CST.
