MEDITECH’s cloud partner, Google, along with SADA Systems, Inc. has created the National Response Portal - an open data platform to track disease hot spots at a county and state level. MEDITECH’s long term partner HCA Healthcare is a sponsor of this effort to safely share and display daily aggregated COVID-19 metrics from data submitted by providers and other healthcare systems.
“We believe this portal is an important piece of the national response and urge broad participation.” - Dr. Edmund Jackson, Chief Data Officer, HCA
The National Response Portal will serve as a first layer of triage to identify outbreaks, help estimate resources needed (such as ICU beds), and guide local decisions about reopening economies and identifying hotspots. Healthcare providers who join in this effort will benefit from data sharing that will support health systems and communities with actionable insights (in the form of dashboards) to gain visibility on COVID-19 trends at a county and zip code level.
While COVID-19 has served as a catalyst, this framework can also be used for the seasonal flu and other disease outbreaks. Many of the reporting needs are currently tracked via data already provided to the CDC.
MEDITECH supports endeavors to collect, aggregate, and analyze important data.
As such, we have created a secure extraction for our Data Repository solution for all platforms. Guidance on how to download the reports and submit is now available.
The more hospitals that join this effort, the more we can work together to arm institutions, counties, and states with the data they need to make the best decisions possible.
