MEDITECH is pleased to announce the general availability release of Expanse Transport — a modern solution that provides integrated and automated EHR workflows associated with transporting patients, equipment, and other items within a healthcare organization. It includes an app for transport staff that streamlines processes and communication to improve patient throughput, positively impacting care as well as the satisfaction of patients and hospital staff.
Early adopters Frederick Health and Berkshire Health Systems are already seeing measurable success with Transport, including increased efficiency of transport staff and dispatchers via auto assignment of transport requests. For example, call volume decreased 64% after Expanse Transport was implemented at Frederick Health and the average job turnaround time decreased from 23 minutes to 17 minutes. At Berkshire Health System, average job turnaround time decreased from 25 minutes to 18 minutes.
“We have had a huge drop in calls to our transport department since go-LIVE and patient transport volumes have increased, since we are capturing and getting credit for transports that we weren’t previously,” said Kathryne Bunn, RN, Transport Manager, Frederick Health. “Transport has been great for tracking productivity and properly staffing our department. “Prior to Expanse Transport, we had a coordinator who had to be available to field calls for transport requests, complete data entry into Excel for tracking, and print the round trip document to hand off to the transporter with patient information,” said Ann Kerwood, RN, BSN, BBA, IT Director, Berkshire Health Systems. “Now we are able to pull the coordinator when the Transport department is busy and utilize auto assignments. This has been extremely helpful due to staffing limitations.”
The Expanse Transport app is available on Apple iOS and Android devices via the MEDITECH Cloud Platform.
