MEDITECH was a well-represented participant at the virtual CHIME21 Spring Forum, which focused on three themes that are driving digital innovation in healthcare: The Views from Health Tech, The Views from Big Tech, and The Health Provider Voice.

During the Opening Keynote Panel, “Future Vision for Health & Care: What’s Coming Over the Horizon,” MEDITECH CEO Howard Messing shared insights on how EHR leaders can continue to advance technologies and support clinicians, while also contributing to the evolution of healthcare's future.

"If you asked me where I worked a few years ago, I would have answered 'a software company,' but now I answer with 'a healthcare company that specializes in software.' That's truly what we do. The data is now so critical to care,” said Messing. “We need to ensure information is widely available and understandable so we meet the patient where they are, because the ultimate goal of the EHR is to please them.”

MEDITECH also hosted a virtual Conference Suite throughout the event, bringing together customers and MEDITECH executives for unique interactive discussions. Attendees joined for knowledge sharing on key industry topics including genomics, cloud technology, analytics, and patient experience.

"The beauty of the EHR is we can teach people as they go, using different rules, different alerts,” said Jennifer McKay, MD, Medical Information Officer at Avera Health during a genomics session. “It really gives our patients something we've never been able to do before: disseminate and permeate scientific discovery in a way that could touch people more quickly than it would otherwise."

The Conference Suite also featured our “Inspired Innovation CIO Panel” with Dan Nash, CIO, Emanate Health; Kate Warriner, Chief Digital and Information Officer at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust; and Jennifer McKay, who shared how new technologies are helping their organizations to move forward.

“We are thrilled that MEDITECH customers shared their impressive stories and caring work during CHIME’s Spring Forum,” said Helen Waters, EVP, MEDITECH and CHIME Foundation Board member. “We are proud partners with organizations that have such strong leadership and passion for the digital future of healthcare.”
