MEDITECH proudly participated as a Platinum Sponsor at the Pan African Health Informatics Association (HELINA) 2025 Scientific Conference, held recently in Gaborone, Botswana.
This year’s theme, “Building Sustainable and Resilient Client-Centred Health Informatics Systems for Health Equity in Africa,” brought together leaders, policymakers, and innovators to shape the future of healthcare across the continent.
MEDITECH International Group CEO Charlotte Jackson and MEDITECH South Africa Managing Director Sushanth Pillai, accompanied by teams from MEDITECH South Africa and Segofala Healthcare, demonstrated MEDITECH’s commitment to advancing digital health transformation across Africa. Their attendance underscored the company's dedication to collaboration, innovation, and thought leadership in the field.
MEDITECH also contributed to the scientific programme with two impactful presentations:
- Deliwe More, Client Services Manager, shared insights in “AI: The Art of the Possible”, exploring how artificial intelligence can enable resilient health systems and transform patient care.
- Patrick Till, Corporate Support Services Manager, presented “Your Data is Talking, Is Your Hospital Listening?” highlighting how hospitals can harness data to create meaningful impact and strengthen healthcare ecosystems.
Beyond the lecture halls, the MEDITECH stand served as a hub of engagement. Highlights included a visit from Mr. Lawrence Ookeditse, Assistant Minister for Health in Botswana, who received a live demonstration of the Expanse EHR, and a valuable exchange with Farhana Alarakhiya, Chief Data Innovation Officer at Aga Khan University, following her inspiring keynote, “The Art of the Possible: Using Local Data to Innovate Proactive Health.”
MEDITECH Expanse is deployed in hospitals and laboratories throughout South Africa—and in every public hospital across Botswana—demonstrating how advanced digital solutions can help health systems achieve safer, more efficient, and equitable care.
“HELINA is more than a conference, it’s a platform for collaboration and shared purpose,” said Pilliai. “At MEDITECH, we believe that resilient digital health ecosystems are built when technology, people, and innovation come together. We’re proud to be part of this journey, supporting African health systems in delivering safer, smarter, and more equitable care.”
Through its sponsorship, presentations, and on-the-ground collaboration, MEDITECH reaffirmed its dedication to empowering healthcare organisations with sustainable digital health solutions that drive better outcomes for patients and communities. By sharing expertise and showcasing technology like Expanse, MEDITECH continues to play a vital role in strengthening health informatics as a cornerstone of health equity across Africa.
