MEDITECH continues to see growth in the large hospital market (>10 hospitals) for the second consecutive year, according to a 2021 KLAS US Hospital Market Share report. It is one of only two EHR vendors to experience market growth in this space.
The KLAS report — which analyzed acute care EMR purchasing activity that occurred in the U.S. from January 1 to December 31, 2020 — indicated that healthcare organizations continued to be impacted by EMR decisions, even with the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
MEDITECH Expanse continued to generate energy in the market with more than half of 2020 Expanse signings coming from new customer contracts. An additional 14 customers elected to migrate to MEDITECH Expanse. According to the report, decisions for Expanse were largely driven by the platform’s acute care, ambulatory, and revenue cycle integration as well as by the improved clinician workflows.
MEDITECH Expanse also proved to be a strong competitor in the Standalone Critical Access Hospital space (1-25 beds), signing six new customers and losing none, thanks in part to its sustainable, subscription-based MaaS solution. MEDITECH continues to lead market share in the Standalone Community Hospital (26–200 Beds) space — the company’s largest customer base — which remains pleased with Expanse.
