MEDITECH COO and EVP Helen Waters and Chief Marketing and Nursing Executive Cathy Turner, BSN, MBA, RN-BC were named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2024 Women in Health IT to Know. The annual list recognizes leaders that “are modernizing administrative healthcare processes, cutting back on inefficiencies, standardizing workflows and more” and also included many MEDITECH customers.
The Women in Health IT list details Waters' leadership role at MEDITECH, which includes defining the company’s strategic direction and establishing operational priorities as well as guiding future development of the Expanse platform. Additionally, her work with customer engagement, product direction, and business partnerships are highlighted. The Becker’s article also mentions Waters’ support of innovative technology including genomic medicine, AI, cloud computing, and interoperability initiatives.
“It is an honor to be recognized with this impressive group that is driving healthcare transformation with their leadership, expertise, and innovation,” said Waters. “I am especially proud to be representing MEDITECH, a technology company with an established history of supporting women in leadership - including our current President and CEO, CFO, and Chief Governance Officer.”
Turner was recognized for her advocacy for healthcare technology to improve safety and clinical efficiency. She is a champion of EHR utilization and efforts to reduce clinician burden with optimization including workflow improvements. A MEDITECH employee since 1991, Turner has helped ensure nurses have a representative voice both internally as part of the company’s nurse informatics program, and externally with customers and at industry events.
“The women recognized by Becker’s are each making unique, positive contributions to healthcare,” said Turner. “I am honored to be in their company and look forward to continuing my efforts to drive change, promote inclusivity, and advance healthcare IT in meaningful ways.”
The Becker’s list also features several leaders who are leveraging their organization’s MEDITECH EHR for transformational change. Customers included Dr. Priscilla Frase, CMIO at Ozarks Healthcare who was recognized for leading “...Ozarks on its path to advance safe, coordinated, quality care through new technologies and service offerings.
