Becker’s Hospital Review honors several MEDITECH customers as Great Community Hospitals

MEDITECH customers were recognized for “clinical excellence, compassionate care, and economic impact on their communities,” on Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2023 list of Great Community Hospitals. 

The list features a range of hospitals serving patient populations of various sizes in rural and suburban communities. Becker’s editorial team chose sites that were highly ranked by multiple organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS, The Leapfrog Group, and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

The Great Community Hospitals list features several HCA Healthcare and Lifepoint Health sites, as well as:

Beaufort (SC) Memorial Hospital A not-for-profit acute care hospital, Beaufort Memorial Hospital’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in the Lowcountry through improved health, innovative partnerships and superior care. The organization was recognized for implementing several innovative programs - including a home buying financial assistance program, affordable employee housing, scholarship opportunities, discounted childcare and take-home family meals, employee mental health programs, and mobile wellness screenings. 

Brookings (SD) Health System The nonprofit city-owned health system offers a range of inpatient, outpatient, surgery, home health, and extended care services to residents of Brookings and 20 surrounding communities. Its many industry awards include being named a Top 20 Rural Community Hospital by the National Rural Hospital Association, The Chartis Center for Rural Health’s Performance Leadership Award, and Newsweek's list of World Best Hospitals. 

CalvertHealth Medical Center(Prince Frederick, MD) CalvertHealth Medical Center provides Southern Maryland residents with safe, high quality health care and promotes wellness for a healthy community. The hospital was spotlighted for implementing state-of-the art diagnostic imaging and a new integrated information system - as well as its accreditation from the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, which places it among the top community cancer programs in the country.

Desert Valley Hospital (Victorville, CA) Part of Prime Healthcare, the hospital is in the top five percent of more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide for clinical performance. Hospital honors include a safety grade of "A" from the The Leapfrog Group, as well as Healthgrades’ "Patient Safety Excellence Award," "Women's Health Excellence Award," and "Distinguished Hospital Clinical Excellence Award.”

NMC Health (Newton, KS) This site was highlighted for establishing several ventures that have been replicated by other healthcare organizations, including its COVID-19 insights, antibiotic stewardship efforts, blood bank automations, safety practices, and wound dressing formularies. The organization was also recognized for its efforts to improve the community’s health.

Oswego (NY) Hospital The nonprofit hospital’s mission is to provide safe, accessible, quality care, and improve the health of the community. The system is currently planning to expand primary care services with the assistance of a state grant.

Redlands (CA) Community Hospital Serving Redlands and the surrounding aisrea, this independent hospital was recognized by Healthgrades for its superior outcomes and for specialty services such as joint replacement, spine surgeries, prostate surgeries and surgical care. To support community health, the hospital conducts a community health needs assessment every three years, which is then used to form a plan of work to address community needs. 

Wooster (OH) Community Hospital A full service and acute care facility offering a complete range of inpatient and outpatient services, the hospital is ranked among the top 2 percent in measures such as overall performance and commitment to continuous improvement. The hospital has also been recognized as one of IBM Watson's Top 100 Hospitals, and was awarded the "Outstanding Patient Experience Award" by Healthgrades.
