Aspen Medical announced it will implement MEDITECH Expanse at its Lautoka Hospital and Ba Hospital in Fiji, establishing a single shared platform between the facilities for better care coordination and improved patient-centric care. Implementing Expanse at both hospitals will also improve efficiencies by enabling the organisation to streamline administrative processes and standardise workflows.

“We believe Expanse will be a valuable tool in our ongoing efforts to innovate and optimise healthcare delivery,” said Aspen Medical’s CEO in Fiji Gavin Whiteside. “The platform will transform how we deliver care by providing a comprehensive view of a patient’s health history, regardless of care location, to guide health care decision-making.”

As part of its commitment to providing patient-centric care, Aspen Medical will leverage Expanse to better manage patients with chronic conditions, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as those at higher risk for illness based on lifestyle or family history. This includes enabling patients to opt in to receive text messages with appointment and preventative screening reminders.

“MEDITECH is committed to building a world where every patient can access their health information and participate fully in their own care,” said MEDITECH Asia Pacific Managing Director Douglas Murray. “We are honoured to work with Aspen Medical on this digital transformation, and ultimately elevate patient care for the one-third of the country’s population that Lautoka and Ba Hospitals serve.”

Aspen Medical will enhance patient engagement by introducing a secure patient portal, enabling patients to view test results, review discharge instructions, request prescription renewals, make co-payments, and schedule virtual visits from home. The portal also offers pre-registration capabilities to streamline check-in and reduce wait times.

“We are excited to partner with Aspen Medical to modernise healthcare delivery in Fiji,” said MEDITECH Executive Director Gina Kerley. “Through our Expanse platform, we’re enabling care teams to work more collaboratively, access vital information in real time, and ultimately enhance the experience for both patients and providers. This collaboration also marks an exciting milestone for us as we extend our global footprint.”

With the Aspen Medical signing, MEDITECH has expanded its international presence, with its EHR now transforming care at thousands of healthcare organisations in 29 countries and territories worldwide.
