The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) recently selected HCA Healthcare (Nashville, TN) and MEDITECH as this year’s recipients of the distinguished CHIME Collaboration Award. The award is an acknowledgment of their years of transforming and innovating together as they look to move healthcare forward to support the latest evolutions, from cloud technology to personalized medicine.

“Collaborating on unique projects has been an important part of our long partnership with HCA Healthcare,” said MEDITECH Executive Vice President Helen Waters. “We are honored to be recognized together as we continue to explore new possibilities in healthcare technology and data and transform the way we care for patients.”

The organizations were recognized for several joint projects throughout their nearly 30 years of partnership. These wide-spanning initiatives have impacted many areas of HCA Healthcare, including quality management, lab, medication reconciliation, antimicrobial stewardship, dictionary management, and patient billing. One of their recent efforts was assisting with the development of the National Response Portal to leverage data insights to aid with COVID-19 pandemic challenges.

“Having worked personally with HCA on many projects, I am continually impressed at their level of innovation,” said MEDITECH Vice President of Client Services Leah Farina. “HCA is always looking for ways to collaborate and evolve using technology, and we’re proud to be on that journey with them.”

The award was presented to Waters on October 29th in San Diego at the CHIME Fall Forum. Helen accepted the award for both MEDITECH and HCA.
