Community hospitals, which account for 84% of hospitals in the United States, play an essential role in delivering local, high-quality care across the country. Several MEDITECH customers have been recognized as Great Community Hospitals by Becker’s Hospital Review as part of its annual list program.
According to Becker's Hospital Review, the annual list honors community hospitals for providing “accessible, affordable, high-quality care to patients beyond the reach of large urban health systems.” Hospitals were selected through a combination of nominations and insights from nationally recognized organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS, The Leapfrog Group, the National Rural Health Association, and the Chartis Center for Rural Health.
The featured hospitals were recognized for a range of programs and initiatives that advance community health, address local needs, and help reduce disparities. Many also leveraged technology, including MEDITECH Expanse, to enhance care and improve outcomes. They include:
- Humboldt Park Health (Chicago, IL), which was recognized for using Expanse clinical registries and dashboards to monitor chronic conditions and develop personalized treatment plans, contributing to a 40% increase in breast cancer screening rates among Black and Latina women.
- Mile Bluff Medical Center (Mauston, WI), which implemented Expanse Navigator to reduce documentation time by more than seven minutes per patient encounter, helping clinicians spend more time focused on patient care.
- Southern Ohio Medical Center (Portsmouth, OH), which used MEDITECH’s opioid stewardship toolkit to support safer prescribing by integrating prescription drug monitoring, risk assessments, and substance use disorder screening into clinician workflows.
