HealthLeaders Media and Healthcare IT News recently featured Bingham Healthcare Chief Nursing Officer Holly Davis, MBA, BSN, RN, discussing how rural health systems can use community knowledge, nurse leadership, and advanced technology to improve access and patient outcomes.
In a podcast with HealthLeaders Media, Davis described the fiscal pressures that rural organizations face, as well the potential for technology to improve population health and long-term outcomes.
“There are really very complicated rules and business practices around everything you do in healthcare,” she said. “But rural population health can be done, and it can be done well. It’s important to learn about how your data is structured, and how to act on it and how to lead it in a way that is community-focused.”
Davis expanded on community partnerships in her Healthcare IT News interview, noting that rural health systems should partner with local organizations to find the right solutions. Bringing health education and outreach into trusted community spaces, such as grocery stores, county fairs, and school events, has helped to foster engagement and trust.
“We need to empower our patients to be seen where and when they want to, and to give them more choices about how to receive their care,” Davis said.
Earlier this year, Becker’s Hospital Review named Davis to its 2025 list of hospital and health system CNOs to know, recognizing her leadership in nursing operations, patient care, and clinical quality.
