The Valley Hospital Moves Forward with MEDITECH's 6.1 EHR
The Valley Hospital, a 451-bed acute care facility in Ridgewood, NJ., has selected MEDITECH’s 6.1 electronic health record (EHR) after a thorough two-year selection process. The Valley Hospital will be implementing MEDITECH’s full EHR, including Physician, Nursing, Clinical Departments, Surgical Services, Revenue Cycle, Patient Portal, and General Financial applications. Valley will also be a lead adopter of MEDITECH’s new CCU/ICU application.
“Our EHR evaluation was very involved and after careful consideration, we decided to continue our 20-year relationship with MEDITECH’s new and exciting 6.1 platform,” stated Eric Carey, vice president for information systems and chief information officer at The Valley Hospital. “We wanted a solution that would excite our clinicians and provide them with the tools to carry out our mission to deliver safe, coordinated, and high-quality care for the members of our community. The partnership and value MEDITECH brings to the table stood out to our selection committee and Board of Trustees.”
WE WANTED A SOLUTION THAT WOULD EXCITE OUR CLINICIANS
Valley will begin implementing the new EHR system in 2014, using MEDITECH’s new READY implementation plan, which features pre-built evidence-based and expert-based standard content. The implementation also features at-the-elbow physician support provided by MEDITECH’s hired physicians, consultants, and application analysts.
MEDITECH’s leadership, including President and CEO Howard Messing, Executive Vice Presidents Hoda Sayed-Friel and Michelle O’Connor, and Vice President Leah Farina, made visits to the hospital to solidify their long-standing relationship.
MEDITECH WAS THE OBVIOUS CHOICE
“We truly value our partnership with Valley for many reasons,” said Messing. “Valley is a leading healthcare provider in the New Jersey area, a long-standing customer, and a strong advocate of the MEDITECH EHR. It has been recognized ten consecutive years for service excellence by J.D. Power and Associates’ Distinguished Hospital Program, in addition to achieving Magnet status and reaching HIMSS Analytics Stage 6 designation. Valley is a model for surrounding hospitals.”
In addition to the executive presence at Valley, MEDITECH also provided clinical resources. Stephanie Lahr, hospitalist and CMIO from Kootenai Medical Center (ID); Robert Sidman, ED physician from William W. Backus Hospital (CT); and Lynn Miller, RN from Doylestown Hospital (PA) all visited with Valley’s 900+ physicians, sharing how they could use MEDITECH to meet their clinical goals.
“We are 100 percent committed to quality and patient safety. Couple that with the cuts in reimbursement as a result of the Affordable Care Act, and MEDITECH was the obvious choice,” said Carey. “The company shares both our mission and our responsibility to the patient community to do what is fiscally responsible. We look forward to continuing our relationship with MEDITECH.”
