PMC Regional Hospital Signs for MEDITECH’s Expanse

Physician-owned hospital in southern Indiana announced they will be implementing Expanse, MEDITECH's progressive EHR platform, later this year.

PMC Regional Hospital, a surgical hospital designed and owned by doctors, announced they will be implementing Expanse, MEDITECH’s clinically-innovative Enterprise Health Record (EHR) later this year. Located in New Albany, Indiana, PMC opened its doors in the fall of 2008 with a mission to provide the highest quality patient care while maximizing benefits to both patients and physicians.

As an organization “owned and operated” by physicians, it was important to PMC that the clinical team drove the EHR decision-making process. They were very impressed with the inherent, web-based nature of Expanse, and the embedded clinical workflows built right into the system. In evaluating potential EHR platforms, PMC decided MEDITECH’s Expanse best fit their organizational vision.

“Selecting an EHR that complemented our clinician-led culture was crucial for the current and future success of our organization,” says Dennis Medley, CEO of PMC Regional Hospital. “After evaluating several systems, it was clear that Expanse was the EHR for us. Not only will it enhance the healthcare we provide to our patients, but it's modern design will streamline our clinicians' workflow as well.”

MEDITECH Expanse is built to deliver clinical sophistication and comprehensive integration, both of which were key factors in PMC’s decision to partner with MEDITECH. As a hospital with a high volume of surgical cases, it is vital that the EHR deployed at PMC is able to effortlessly share data between the surgical services suite and the rest of the EHR, primarily materials management and billing. Expanse satisfied these needs admirably.

“Our surgical services department is excited to be getting a system that truly keeps them connected to the entirety of the patient’s record,” says Medley. “A comprehensive, integrated solution will be a welcomed addition to our surgery team.”

In selecting Expanse, PMC was impressed with the system’s ability to enhance their workflows, and the organization was equally excited to partner with a stable company like MEDITECH that can provide a solution that meets their unique needs, as well as support them as they continue to grow into the future.

“Expanse was designed to meet the needs of the modern physician,” says Helen Waters, executive vice president at MEDITECH. “Healthcare’s current landscape calls for tools that bolster, not burden, a clinician’s ability to be successful and provide a high level of care to their patients. This was especially important to PMC Regional Hospital, and we’re honored to provide a revolutionary system to meet the needs of their physicians.”
