ONC Reports “Nearly Universal” EHR Adoption
A recent survey conducted by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) reports that almost all U.S hospitals are now using EHR technology. In fact, adoption rates for all hospital types—large, small, and rural—have increased significantly since the HITECH Act passed in 2009.
“These data showing nearly universal adoption of certified electronic health records by U.S. hospitals are an indication of how far we have come for clinicians and individuals since the HITECH Act was passed,” said National Coordinator for Health IT Karen DeSalvo, MD in Health Data Management.
