Congratulations to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center (Jasper, IN), recipient of the 2018 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in Health Care.

The Baldrige Award is the nation's highest honor recognizing organizational performance excellence and innovation, and is the only formal recognition of its kind given by the President of the United States.

Organizations applying for The Baldrige Award start by performing a self-assessment in which they identify key strategic advantages, as well as areas that have opportunities for improvement. Those following the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program must receive a certain score on their assessments before they qualify for a site visit from national examiners.

Award recipients gain tremendous value from undergoing the rigorous application process, by taking what they’ve learned from the program’s framework and applying it to their own workflow processes to continue to improve care for their patients.

Contributing to MHCC’s award success were factors such as receiving a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for overall quality of inpatient care, as well as achieving national top-10%, net-positive, value-based-payment performance since 2017. MHCC’s overall financial performance for accounts receivable (AR) days is 41, demonstrating a healthy revenue cycle.
