MEDITECH Leapfrog Survey

MEDITECH customers receive top hospital safety grades from the Leapfrog Group

Thirty-one percent of MEDITECH customers earned an “A” grade in the Spring 2021 Leapfrog Group Survey.

The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization focused on health care safety and quality, recently released their Spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grades, indicating that 31% of MEDITECH’s acute care customers earned an “A” grade.

These hospitals met rigorous safety standards during a measurement period that took place just prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We find that straight ‘A’ hospitals have strong structures of safety in place,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “These hospitals are continuously learning, monitoring data, and addressing areas of improvement.”

Grades were developed using data from the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). According to the Leapfrog Group, those organizations that already had strong safety and quality measures embedded in their daily workflow were better equipped to respond to the pandemic.

“Our straight ‘A’ hospitals remind us how preparedness protected their patients as well as their workforce, and created a high level of organizational resilience,” said Binder.

MEDITECH’s Expanse EHR — including surveillance and evidence-based toolkits — can help healthcare organizations to further their safety efforts and prevent disease transmission.
