MEDITECH joins Canada in celebrating Digital Health Week (Nov 11 - 17). Here are a few of the ways our customers are transforming health care delivery across the country, as well as some of the tools and resources MEDTECH offers to help you advance digital health.

Interior Health Authority (Kelowna, British Columbia) continues to roll out its initiative to integrate medication histories into the MEDITECH EHR across its 22-hospital health authority, according to an article in Canadian Healthcare Technology (see page 10). South Okanagan General Hospital was the first site to deploy the electronic patient medication history service, enabling clinicians to query the medication profiles for all patients entering the hospital. This eliminates the need for time-consuming data entry and reconciliation, while simultaneously creating a more accurate medical record.

Yukon Health and Social Services recently announced that it is moving to Expanse to better connect patient care across the territory. The upgrade will also include MEDITECH’s integrated Home Care solution.

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital (Toronto,Ontario) is one of many customers LIVE with MEDITECH Expanse. The 75-bed research hospital — renowned for its expertise in partnering with clients and families to provide exceptional care — chose MEDITECH Expanse for its web functionalities. The modern technology supports clinicians from all care areas to improve communication, and enables Holland Bloorview to provide personalized patient care spanning across all settings.

Waypoint Centre For Mental Health Care (Penetanguishene, ON) is using the electronic SBAR communication tool to positively impact care quality and decrease adverse events during care transitions. After Waypoint went LIVE with MEDITECH and SBAR, eliminating paper during shift changes across 14 inpatient units, staff soon found the new electronic process took between 10-15 minutes, compared to the 40+ minutes for paper documentation. MEDITECH’s EHR is now considered a key source of information by the interprofessional team, and physicians rely on it to see a daily snapshot of patient activity. Learn more about how Waypoint improved its care quality, saved time, and reduced the risk of incidents during care transitions by downloading the full case study.
