Join MEDITECH in Signing the World Sepsis Declaration
Goals outlined in the World Sepsis Declaration include:
Increasing political awareness of the growing medical and economic burden of sepsis.
Supporting the implementation of international sepsis guidelines for earlier recognition and more effective treatment.
Ensuring that sufficient medical resources and well-trained staff are available worldwide.
Mobilizing stakeholders to ensure that strategies to prevent and control the impact of sepsis are targeted at those who are most in need.
Involving sepsis survivors and those bereaved by sepsis in planning strategies to decrease incidence and improve outcomes.
Signers pledge to work towards establishing formal development plans for each country to achieve these objectives by 2020.
“The significance of the WHO’s resolution to improve, prevent, diagnose, and manage sepsis is a quantum leap in the international fight against sepsis,” said Dr. Konrad Reinhart, chair of the Global Sepsis Alliance, in their press release. “Worldwide, sepsis is one of the most common deadly diseases, and it is one of the few conditions to strike with equal ferocity in resource-poor areas and in the developed world.”
