    Daniel Sands, MD, MPH
    Daniel Sands is passionate about healthcare transformation, non-visit based care, collaboration in healthcare, and participatory medicine. His 20-year tenure encompasses the healthcare, technology, and business industries, during which he has developed and implemented clinical systems, and served as both chief medical officer and chief medical informatics officer. He is the recipient of numerous health IT awards and honors, including HealthLeaders Magazine's one of "20 People Who Make Healthcare better" in 2009.

    Tim Zoph, MSA, MBA
    Tim Zoph serves as a Strategic Advisor and Client Executive for Impact Advisors, a nationally recognized healthcare consulting firm, dedicated to improving healthcare through technology and best practices. Zoph has more than 30 years of healthcare and IT experience, including time as a Senior Vice President and CIO for Northwestern Medicine, during which the organization was named one of the "100 Most Wired Hospitals" 12 times. He was awarded the John Gall CIO of the Year award in 2003 and was named the 2008 CIO of the Year by the Executives’ Club of Chicago and the Association of Information Technology Professionals. He also received the Legacy Award from CHIME in 2014.

    Daniel Dellaferrera’s senior researcher role at The Advisory Board focuses on the operational and strategic issues facing the healthcare industry in multiple countries. He has previously led best practices studies on Emergency Care, Discharge, Multi-morbid patients, and Clinical Variation. Additionally, he has 10 years of experience in best practice research, providing advisory services to senior executives in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

    It’s no surprise that reimbursement tied to quality performance is quickly becoming a reality for hospitals and physicians. CMS’ aggressive goals aimed at increasing the percentage of Medicare payments associated with quality versus quantity can be achieved through such programs as Value-based Purchasing and MACRA. This session will cover scoring methodologies, reporting requirements, reimbursement impact, infrastructure (and other resource needs), EMR tools and tactics, and workflow modifications.

    In 2015, CHRISTUS Health began the implementation of a computer workstation single sign-on (SSO). George Gellert shares how SSO has impacted CHRISTUS’s six hospitals - from reduced log-in times, to financial savings from migrating to a thin client, and more. During this presentation, we’ll review the qualitative value contributions to clinician satisfaction, reduction in staff turnover, facilitation of adoption of EHR applications, and other benefits of SSO.

    Leveraging MEDITECH Physician Documentation to Improve CDI Processes

    Join Dr. Kang Hsu as he discusses St. Joseph Health’s multi-year effort to leverage their MEDITECH Client/Server EHR physician documentation tool to improve their clinical documentation compliance rate and case mix index. Through a collaborative effort between the medical staff, HIM department, IT, and administration, the organization has developed a process to electronically communicate with medical staff via physician documentation regarding improvement and compliance items. As a result, they have seen a trend of improved documentation completeness, quality, and accurate reflection of the true patient case mix index.
