    Keynote

    Dr. Ron Ross
National Institute of Standards and Technology
    Information Technology Laboratory

A review of recent news headlines clearly indicates that cybersecurity has become both an increased concern and priority for healthcare institutions. As more and more organizations experience incidents related to the security of their data, the question keeping many executives awake at night is “what can be done to prepare for and neutralize potential threats?”

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Ron Ross as one of our keynote speakers, as he will address this very issue. A Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Dr. Ross specializes in information security and risk management and is currently developing security standards and guidelines for the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) Implementation Project. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from one of the nation’s foremost experts on cybersecurity as he talks about its impact on healthcare.

    Kenneth Mandl, MD
    Professor, Harvard Medical School
Director, Boston Children’s Hospital Informatics Program

Join us on a journey to the crossroad where epidemiology meets informatics, and say hello to our second keynote speaker, Dr. Kenneth Mandl. As a pioneer in the use of IT and its relation to population health, Dr. Mandl has focused his efforts on care redesign to drive innovation in health systems. He currently leads the transformative, federally funded SMART Platforms initiative, with the goal of creating what is essentially the 'app store for health.'

Dr. Mandl previously received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, as well as the Clifford A. Barger Award for top mentors at Harvard Medical School. He was an advisor to two directors of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and currently chairs the Board of Scientific Counselors of the NIH’s National Library of Medicine.
