MEDITECH market share expands with Expanse

Industry research firm KLAS reports that MEDITECH was one of only two vendors (the other being Epic) that saw significant market share growth in 2019. According to KLAS, the Expanse platform is drawing interest and purchases from organizations outside MEDITECH’s legacy customer bases.

In addition, Expanse achieved Black Book’s Highest Client Satisfaction Award for Inpatient EHR and was just named Black Book’s #1 EHR in Usability for Nurses.

The market data and customer feedback included in the KLAS report demonstrate the EHR market’s ongoing shift toward embracing innovation, product sophistication, usability, and sustainability.

KLAS report highlights

  • MEDITECH’s acute care market share growth came from new IDNs and standalone hospitals
  • An additional 27 existing customers migrated to Expanse from legacy MEDITECH platforms
  • MEDITECH’s efforts on a web-based Point of Care solution for nurses, therapists, and mobile caregivers generated interest by net new customers
  • Expanse’s mobile, web-based platform and modern EHR capabilities drove a second consecutive year of increased market share for MEDITECH
  • Customers rated MEDITECH highly in loyalty (B+) and value (B+), reflecting long-term relationships and trust, as well as superior TCO.
  • MEDITECH surpassed Cerner in the number of smaller organizations signed, for the first time in several years.

Wins for MEDITECH in 2019

MEDITECH amassed 29 net new customers, defined as competitive wins, including a purchase from a larger (400+ bed) health system outside MEDITECH’s legacy customer base.
